ROOTS TO ROUX KNOW * GROW * HEAL ================================================================== ROOTS TO ROUX — PRIVACY POLICY ============================== Last updated: 2026-09-23. This describes what the app actually does, checked against the code and the database on the date above. Roots to Roux is built to collect as little about you as possible. Most of the app works without an account at all. YOU CAN USE MOST OF THIS APP WITHOUT AN ACCOUNT ----------------------------------------------- Identifying a plant, running the safety checks, and browsing the plant library all work signed out. An account is only needed to save your own recipes, keep a garden, or offer something on the swap. PHOTOGRAPHS ----------- The app sends photographs to outside services to identify what is in them. Each one is a separate service with its own privacy practices: What you photograph — Where it goes — Why A plant — Pl@ntNet (via our server) — To return candidate species A mushroom — Kindwise (via our server) — To return candidate species A recipe card — Google Gemini (via our server) — To read the text off the page Photographs are sent through our own server so that our API keys are never on your phone. We do not store your photographs in our database. They are passed to the identification service, the result comes back, and we keep the result — not the picture. We do not use your photographs to identify you, and we do not sell them. Pl@ntNet, Kindwise and Google each handle the images they receive under their own terms. INFORMATION YOU GIVE US ----------------------- • Account — your email address. Sign-in is handled by Supabase. We use it to sign you in and to tie your own content to you. • Your recipes — anything you scan or type into your recipe book. These are private to you. Database rules restrict every recipe to the account that created it; nobody else can read them, including other users. • Your gardens — a name, an optional description of the place, beds you draw, and what you plant in them. • Swap listings — what you are offering and a rough area (for example a town or parish). We do not ask for or store your street address for a listing. LOCATION, AND ONE THING WORTH READING TWICE ------------------------------------------- • While using the map, the app can use your device location to show pins near you. It asks the first time you open the map, only while the app is in use, and you can say no — the map still works. • A garden holds a place. If you save a garden, you are saving a location that is probably where you live. We treat that as sensitive: gardens are private by default, there is no public directory of gardens, and there is no way to browse or discover somebody else's. The only way another person can see a garden is if its owner names them specifically and they accept. • Map pins are places, not people. A pin marks a plant or a hazard. It is not a report of where anybody is. WHAT WE DO NOT DO ----------------- • We do not sell your personal information. • We do not build advertising profiles. • We do not track you across other apps or websites. • We do not publish your recipes, gardens, or location to anyone. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES WE RELY ON ------------------------------- Service — What it does Supabase — Database, accounts, and our server functions Pl@ntNet — Plant identification from photographs Kindwise — Mushroom identification from photographs Google (Gemini) — Reading text off a photographed recipe Apple Maps (iPhone) / Google Maps (Android) — Map imagery Apple / Google — App distribution, Sign in with Apple, and billing for Pro subscriptions RevenueCat — Records which Pro subscription an account holds (see below) Each of these has its own privacy policy. PRO SUBSCRIPTIONS ----------------- If you buy Roots to Roux Pro, Apple (or Google on Android) takes the payment; we never see your card. We use RevenueCat to know whether a subscription is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID (your Roots to Roux account ID when you are signed in), your purchase and renewal history for this app, and basic device information, and uses it only to tell the app whether Pro is on. It is not used for advertising or tracking. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription — cancel it in your Apple ID settings. CHILDREN -------- The app is for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. It is a foraging and plant-safety app, and it is not designed for unsupervised use by children. YOUR CHOICES ------------ You can delete any recipe, garden, or listing you made, at any time, from inside the app. You can delete your whole account and everything attached to it from inside the app: Account → Delete my account. You can also ask us to do it by writing to the address below. CONTACT ------- contact@rootstoroux.com Roots to Roux is made by Roots N Remedies, LLC (Mississippi). CHANGES ------- We will update this policy as the app changes, and post the new version here with a new date at the top. If something material changes about how we handle your information, we will say so plainly rather than quietly editing the page. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Privacy: .../legal?doc=privacy Terms: .../legal?doc=terms Safety: .../legal?doc=safety
